But the ending leaves you with a lot of questions. Again, there’s not a lot of blood in this film. I won’t discuss it in too much detail, because I don’t want to ruin it for you. At one point a character complains that there is not, in fact, sticky toffy pudding and the store is closed.įinally, though, I want to discuss the ending. Everybody’s going to die! Let’s make sticky toffy pudding and politely drink our suicide pills. I also loved the fact that the whole movie felt about as British as one can get. But in the end, all is forgiven and everyone just wants to make their last day on Earth a happy day. And yes, I think at one point Nell almost decks Sophie. Yes, there’s a little bit of fighting between Sandra and Tony. They find out the world is going to end, and they decide the best thing to do is gather together their friends and family and have a beautiful Christmas together. I honestly think the main reason why this movie works is because the characters are so likable. And everyone gathered in the house has agreed to take them after celebrating Christmas together one last time. And the British government, rather than trying to do anything about it, has sent out suicide pills. An apocalyptic wind is rolling over the world, killing everyone in its path. But it soon becomes clear that something is wrong. Then there are the four children, Nell and Simon’s sons, Hardy, Thomas, and Art. Tony and Sandra, married for years and kind of maybe still like each other. Alex and Bella, married for years and still very much in love. You have James and Sophie, the newlyweds. Nell says something about it being kinder for the foxes to get them. For some reason, the family is releasing all of their chickens into the woods. Right off the bat, there are some hints that this isn’t a typical Christmas. We begin our story with our main characters, Nell and Simon, getting ready to host their school friends for Christmas. I’ve been following Matt, the blogger behind Dinosaur Dracula clear back to the X-Entertainment days and his work made me interested in blogging. ![]() The first recipient was, of course, Dinosaur Dracula, which is well-deserved. It is an award representing excellence in horror blogging and the horror community. One big surprise was the beginning of the Silver Bolo Awards, which will seem to be a feature of The Last Drive-In going forward. There was a huge sense of fun throughout the entire experience, even if Joe Bob’s party plans, cruelly, did not seem to pan out throughout the evening. Jack Frost was pretty much exactly what I would personally want in a Drive-In experience.
